Massive Worldwide Ransomware Attack

An unprecedented high scale Ransomware cyber attack is going on around the world. Till now nobody knows where it’s coming from. Among the worst hit are Russia's interior ministry, US logistics giant FedEx, Spanish telecommunications operator Telefonica, public railways in Germany and worst of all the English National Health Service (NHS). The virus exploits vulnerability in Microsoft Windows software to encrypt files and take control of the computer. After that it displays messages demanding a payment of up to USD 300 in virtual currency “Bitcoin” to unlock files and return control to the owner of the system. At the meantime Microsoft has fixed this vulnerability. The funny thing about this virus is that elements of the of the virus software was originally developed by the United States National Security Agency (NSA). To be on the safe side: Microsoft Windows users should urgently update their systems. Update Anti Virus programs and scan the system afterwards. Do not click on any link inside an email even if it was sent by a friend, contact the sender to confirm the mail. Delete anybody you don’t know but suddenly appears on your friends list in any messenger program like Skype, Imo, Viber etc. Backup your systems frequently for worst case scenarios.
