CJN Onnoghen is accused of non and fraudulent declaration of assets.
The law says that public servants must declare their assets before taking office and subsequently every four years.
CJN Onnoghen should’ve voluntarily stepped aside and let the due process of the law to take its course.
Instead of stepping aside, Mr. Onnoghen tried to indefinitely block any further investigation. That’s a good example of impunity at the highest level.
The president had no other choice than to step in on the issue.
The big question should be, where did Onnoghen get all the money in the bank accounts he failed to declare and not questioning the process of his removal.
